Half Term Newsletter

Mid Term Newsletter,

Hello all,

As we finish up a successful half first term in school, I just wanted to make you aware of some upcoming events and changes to our calendar.

Sciath na Scol Success

Firstly, we would like to congratulate both our Sciath na Scol teams on a very successful season. In  particular, we have to mention to the boys team who reached their group final which was played in Paric Uí Caoimh on Monday the 22nd of October.  The boys were unsuccessful on the day, but they showed great skill and determination and were unlucky not to win.  Congratulations to all involved.

Halloween Disco

Venue: School Hall, Thursday 25th of October, 6.30pm to 8.00pm

Due to the Presidential Election we are closing for the midterm break a day early this year, on Thursday the 25th of October.  Traditionally this is a day the children wear their Halloween costumes to school but this year we ask the children NOT to wear their costumes as they will need to spare them so they can show them off at the Parents Association Disco.  Children are to wear uniform/tracksuit like a normal Thursday please.  Please note that there will be a raffle on the night for the adults.  Prizes include a magnificent homebaked Halloween themed cake, vouchers for Easons, wine & chocolates and much much more

.

Scór na bPáistí:

After the midterm we will begin preparations for Scór 2019.  The first round of Scór na Bpáistí is usually very early in January so we would like to begin rehearsals for anyone interested in taking part in November.  The Scór competition is open to 3rd class to 6th and we will be looking for children to take part in Set & Figure Dancing, Solo dancing, Recitation, Solo singing, Instrumental Solo, a Novelty Act, Traditional and Ballad Group.  If your child would like to audition for any of these categories, perhaps they would like to prepare something at home over the midterm.   If any parents have an interest in writing a sketch with a local historical theme and some light comedy we would love to hear from you.
