What is the Parents Association?
The Parent Association is the structure through which parents/guardians in a school can work together for the best possible education for their children. The Education Act, 1998 sets down the role of the parent association.
Our Parents Association committee is as follows:
Joint Chair: Annette Murray & Anne Cullinane
Secretary: Brenda Lambarou
Treasurer: Edwina Lyons
Our parents association meet three to four times a year to discuss how to help the school with fund raising and cater for events throughout the year.
One of the annual events catered for by the parents association is the first communion breakfast for the children and families of the first communion class.
We also organise an informal coffee morning for the parents of the new junior infants, in the school halla, the morning the children come in to see the school and meet their teacher for the first time, this usually happens in early June.
In the past year the parents association helped the fund raising commitee for our new extension. In September 2016, our new extension was officially opened by Minister Michael Creed. It was a wonderful event enjoyed by invited guests and parents.
On the morning of the opening the parents association presented their fund raising cheque to the school and catered for the crowd ensuring everyone was looked after with a ‘cuppa and a cake!’
