This association is set up to help the staff and pupils as much as possible during the school year.  Fundraising and volunteer rotas for all school events, such as helping with the childrens' christmas party and santa visit, organising the communion breakfast, preparing for the 6th class mass and overseeing the Coffee Morning for new parents.

This year the Parents Association in partnership with the school staff set out to raise funds for recent building works in the school. The parents association formed a working team to raise the funds, together with the staff they set up and ran a very successful Sponsored Walk which enjoyed participation from across the school community. The funds were raised through advertising on the walk catalogue, support from local business and contributions raised through sponsorship and hardwork by parents, staff and students of Canovee School.  Great credit goes to the hardworking committee who spent many hours on this project to help achieve our target.

This school year, our fundraising events included:
School Sponsored Walk in September
Bag Packing Day in Dunnes Stores in November
Cake Sale and Plant Sale in February
Cookery Demonstration and Social Evening in March
Clothes Bank/Recycling Collections in October and April

All the efforts have ensured that funds were available to be used to defray the cost of the extension to the classrooms and some new office space.  It was also used to assist in funding the new school garden.  The funds are also used for ongoing classes for Speech and Drama and the recent  Gymnastics Programme that ran for the final term in school.  

The Parents Association is a social outlet for the greater school community and a great oportunity for parents to get to know each other and to participate in school activities and events. Planning for events and activiteis for the coming school year will be based on feedback on the success's achieved in 2012/2013.  All parents are invited to share their ideas on for the coming year and  the parents association welcome suggestions and particpation from all parents in the school.

We have approx. 3 meetings in a school year. Different fundraising and social activities throughout the year are organised by committees of interested parents. Volunteers for any of these committees or participation at meetings to give feedback  or provide support would be greatly appreciated.
