On Saturday 8th Feburary, braving the weather conditions, pupils from Canovee National School competed in the 1st Semi final in Coachford.

First to brave the stage was Catriona Moynihan dancing a Reel in the "Figuir Rince Aonair", she was beautiful and has qualified for the next round.

Our "Ceol Uirlise Team", which consisted of Roisin Ni Bhrian and Elma McCarthy on Tin Whistle, Tom Shorten on Banjo and his sister Michaela on Accordian, brought the house down with "Britches full of stiches" and " The Miller from Glanmire". They too have qualified for the County Semi Final.

In the Trath na gCeisteanna we had 2 teams competing - a senior team made up of 6th class pupils - Jack Kelleher, Ben Cheasty & Rebecca O'Regan.  They came 2nd and have reached the next stage of the competition.  Our junior team from 5th class, consisted of Colm McCarthy, Anna O'Riordan and Michaela Shorten, were not as fortunate, but they did us proud.

A great nights entertainment was had by all and we look forward to more success in Ovens on the 2nd March @2pm.              Plenty of practice in the meantime.
