Scór Success Again!!

Scór Success Again!!

What fantastic performances and results today for Canovee  children & their teacher Mrs O Brien.!!

We all arrived in Eire Óg this afternoon at 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start.  There were 17 clubs/schools/groups competing for a trophy or a place in the County semi final in 11 different categories.  In each category there is only 1 qualifier for the county semi final , but here are trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  So as you can imagine, the competition was FIERCE!!!  We competed in 5 categories.

All our competitors were amazing and couldn’t have done any more.  They represented themselves with pride and have to be commended for their hard work and dedication over the last few weeks in their preparations.  They made their teacher and families really proud and finally when the results were given at 7.30pm we reaped the rewards!!

  • Méabh McCarthy (6th class) won the recitation, with ‘Extracts from the letters of Countess Markievicz from Mountjoy Prison’ and now goes onto represent the school in the County Semi Final, which takes place next Friday @ 8pm in Eire Óg.
  • Muireann Hallissey (in 4th class) danced her way into 2nd place with her dance ‘An Easy Reel’ (not so easy from where I sat!) in the Solo Irish Dancing,
  • And our ballad group, made up of Sinead Fehily, Ellen Healy, Elise O Rielly, Eoin Moynihan, and Robyn Sexton (all in 5th class) sang their way into 3rd with their rendition of Transa Na dtonnta and A Shaighdiuirin a Chroí.

Heartiest congratulations to all involved and best of luck to Méabh in her county semi final next weekend!!
